Standee Auction UPDATE!
The Connaught 2Screen Cinema has raised over £500 for the Mayor’s charities…
On Saturday 26th September the Connaught 2Screen Cinema held their Grand Standee Auction in Fraser’s Bar, selling off all sorts of film memorabilia to raise over £500 for the Mayor’s charities.
The doors opened at 10am for movie buffs to have a preview of the film banners and cardboard cut out characters up for grabs by the highest bidder, and the action all kicked off at 1.30pm. Auctioneer Chris Shore drummed up the sales and the star lot was a plastic hanging banner of Daniel Craig’s James Bond from the recent movie Quantum of Solace which went for the amazing figure of £60. Some generous bidders won more than one item and ended up leaving weighed down with Hollywood superstars of all shapes and sizes!
All the proceeds raised by this event went straight to the Mayor’s charities, which this year include, St Barnabas Hospice, Chestnut Tree House, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Home, Street Pastors and Christians Against Poverty.
The Connaught 2Screen Cinema plan to make this a regular annual event, so if you missed your chance to take home a little piece of Hollywood history this time, keep your eyes peeled for next years film memorabilia auction!
