A veritable feast of music by Spaniards or inspired by Spain. The major work in this programme, the Fantasía para un Gentilhombre (Fantasy for a Gentleman) is a concerto for guitar and orchestra by the Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo. Written in 1954, it is Rodrigo's second most popular work after the famous Concierto de Aranjuez. Other items include music by non-Spanish composers who capture the spirit of this country in a variety of ways, focusing primarily on rhythm and dance forms.

As well as popular dances by both Moskowski and Albeniz, two orchestral showpieces by French composers frame this Iberian experience.

Andrew Gough, who made such an impression with Worthing audiences in 2008, makes a welcome return as soloist. An acknowledged classical guitarist both on the concert platform and in the recording studio, Andrew has performed extensively throughout the Midlands and nationwide. He is an orchestral guitarist with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Andrew is Head of Guitar and Music Theory Co-ordinator at the Birmingham Conservatoire Junior Department, whilst also the guitar tutor at King Edward's School.
