The Blockheads & Special Guests
Formed in 1977 to promote Ian Dury's ‘New Boots and Panties’, The Blockheads enjoyed worldwide smash hits with ‘Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick’, ‘Sex and Drugs & Rock and Roll’, ‘What A Waste’, ‘Reasons To Be Cheerful’ etc. Successful solo careers followed until 1987 when the band reformed. Since Ian’s untimely death in 2000 the band have continued to tour extensively with Ian's best friend ‘Derek The Draw’ sharing vocal duties. The Blockheads’ unique brand of Brit Funk and their wry humour make them one of the best live bands on the circuit.
Sarah Gillespie will join the Blockheads on stage, with acoustically styled songs that are rich in emotion and bluesy undertones. The Anglo-American singer performs her lyric driven cascades with a powerfully sensuous voice & dynamic guitar. Expect emotive ballads & raucous gypsy swing incorporating pre-rock elements of blues and vaudeville with wild Balkan flourishes.
