The Story of Snow White
As Queen Mirabel sat sewing in the castle, with the snow deep and crisp in the grounds outside, her thoughts wandered causing her to prick her finger on the needle. A drop of blood spilt on her embroidery. At that moment she thought of her unborn child who she wished would be a beautiful girl.
A few weeks later the Queen did give birth to a beautiful baby girl whom she called Snow White. Sadly, the Queen died only days later. The King remarried on Snow White’s first birthday. The new Queen was very beautiful and could not bear anyone else even thinking that their beauty matched hers. She had a magic mirror in her chambers to which she asked every day “Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all?”
Life went on and the mirror proclaimed the Queen’s beauty every day until one day the Queen asked, ‘Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all?’ And the mirror answered ‘My Queen, Snow White is the fairest’.
The Queen was furious; she was so cross that she plotted to kill Snow White so that she would again be the fairest in the land. The Queen sent for one of her woodmen and ordered him to take Snow White to the forest and kill her. The woodman led Snow White into the forest but could not bring himself to kill her. Instead he left her there.
Snow White wandered through the forest until she came across a small cottage. She went inside and found seven beds, seven chairs and seven places set at the table. She was so tired that she fell asleep in one of the beds and was woken when the owners returned. They were the seven dwarfs who worked in a mine in the nearby mountains. They were amazed at Snow White’s beauty and the kind hearted jolly dwarfs quickly befriended Snow White and asked her to look after the house while they were out at work. Snow White lived in constant fear of her stepmother and the evil plot to kill her.

Back at the castle, the Queen asked her mirror, ‘Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all?’ And the mirror answered, ‘No, my Queen, on the fair side of the woods in the dwarfs cottage, Snow White is the fairest of them all’. The Queen was furious and decided that she would have to kill Snow White herself. The Queen poisoned an apple and tricked Snow White into eating it. Snow White fell to the ground and the Queen’s evil deed was done.
The Queen returned to the castle and the mirror confirmed that she was the fairest in the land. The dwarfs returned to the cottage to find Snow White dead and they were so upset that they placed her in a glass coffin, in the hope that one day the poison’s spell could be broken.
Later, a handsome Prince, while travelling through the forest, saw Snow White in the coffin with the dwarfs around. He immediately fell in love with her. The Prince could not leave without her and placed a kiss on her blood red lips, Snow White began to move. Snow White and the Prince were soon married and the evil Queen was banished from the kingdom by the Prince. They lived happily every after as the most beautiful couple in the world.
