Classical Highlights
Programme includes:
Rossini: Overture ‘The Italian Girl in Algiers’
Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 5 ‘Emperor’
Mozart: Symphony No. 39 in E flat major
George-Emmanuel Lazaridis - piano
Worthing Symphony Orchestra
Conductor: John Gibbons
George-Emmanuel Lazaridis won the Worthing Piano Competition in 2000 playing the Chopin Second Piano Concerto. He makes a welcome return with Beethoven’s magisterial ‘Emperor’ Piano Concerto, the work originally written in praise of Napoleon before he went ‘bad’. A fun Rossini overture and one of Mozart’s greatest symphonies complete an afternoon of Classical highlights.
George-Emmanuel Lazaridis was born in Greece and aged 28 has already embarked on a flourishing international career. Since his early teens he has been performing in prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, The Acropolis, Le Corum Montpellier and has played with leading orchestras including the Hamburg Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, and the Warsaw Symphony.
TSC (USA) and the BBC as well as the Greek National Television - ERT have all featured him in special broadcast profiles and his CD release of Schumann Piano Works has been selected as one of BBC Music Magazine's Top 10 recommendations.
