Precocious Prodigies
Boris Brovtsyn (violin). Soloist sponsored by Mr David Ripley
Mozart Overture to ‘The Marriage of Figaro’
R. Strauss Violin Concerto in D minor
Mendelssohn Overture ‘The Hebrides’
Bizet Symphony in C
This is a concert that shows off the precocious talents of four major composers.
Bizet, the composer of Carmen, wrote his vivacious Symphony in C when only 17, shortly before he won the Prix de Rome. Mendelssohn and Mozart were both writing astonishing works as teenagers whilst Richard Strauss’s early Violin Concerto was one of the works that made the Munich musical establishment stand up and take notice of this prodigiously talented composer known to most for the iconic opening to Stanley Kubrick’s film 2001 A Space Odyssey. Worthing audiences need no persuasion to buy tickets to hear young Russian violinist Boris Brovtsyn whose many performances in the Assembly Hall are legendary.
“A wonderful talent” - Ruggierro Ricci
