Hiring Charges

1. Staff 

The charges for venue hire include a House Manager and Stage Technician.  In addition, at least one Attendant will be supplied by the Council and the cost re-charged to the hirer.  Further staff (i.e. usherettes, stewards) can be supplied at the hirer’s request.  The minimum charge for staff is £9.85 per hour Monday to Friday and £12.85 per hour Saturday and Sunday, and public holidays. There should be 1 steward OVER THE AGE OF 21 for every 100 people attending, which the hirer must supply, however the stewards supplied must be solely for that purpose and may not be involved in any other activity pertaining to the event e.g. performing on stage etc. Depending on the nature of your event, for Health & Safety requirements, it is very likely you will need an extra technician on stage (rechargeable) in addition to the one supplied.

2. Computerised Box Office 

Computerised Box Office facilities (including staff and tickets) are available.  A charge of £116 will be made for non-commercial hirers and £188 against 5% of the gross Box Office receipts, whichever is the greater, for commercial hirers.  The administration of card payments is subject to a 4% deduction on all payments made by this method.

3. Worthing Theatres What’s On Guide

This brochure is published three times a year, current print run between 55,000 and 60,000, and as well as being mailed to patrons is widely distributed throughout the county.  If you require this facility please indicate on your hiring form and contact us for details of charges.  Hirers will then be automatically contacted by us prior to publication date of the issue applicable for copy, which is subject to space available.

4. Technical Equipment

All technical equipment, i.e. radio microphone batteries, pyrotechnics, etc. are subject to consultation with the Technical Manager, email: jim.roberts@adur-worthing.gov.uk.  Full technical specifications are contained in the lettings package.  If hirers use their own radio microphones they must ensure they have the appropriate licence if applicable.  Radio mics cost £35 per day.  Extra technicians cost £12.85 per hour.

5. Assembly Hall Extensions

At the Assembly Hall extensions can be added to the forestage subject to availability and resources, at a cost of £122 per move.  However, please note this reduces the number of seats in the auditorium.

6. Seat Moves

 Although the Assembly Hall is a multi-purpose venue you may be liable to a seat move charge if your event has a different layout to the one before or after yours. The cost is £180 per move and you will be informed at the time of hiring if this charge applies. Please note that the Pavilion Theatre has theatre seating for most events and is therefore rarely available for non seated events.

7. Performing Right Society

Hirers presenting live music concerts will be charged the rate applicable – between 2% and 4.8% of the net Box Office receipts depending on category of music. Minimum charges apply. Please ask for further details.

8. Party Balloons

Party balloons can be arranged (for dances only) in a hanging net at the cost of £19 per one hundred (approx.) – maximum 200 balloons.  Please note, helium balloons are not permitted.

All charges except for the administration of card payments and PRS are subject to VAT at the current rate.
